It’s almost impossible to believe May 2019 is halfway over already. And soon, the whole year will be halfway over. Despite more drenching rains than we can shake a stick at, the year is flying by. Here’s a snapshot of some fun Montgomery and Berks County events for kids and families to enjoy in May 2019. Also be sure to download a copy of my May Passport to Fun so you can check off as many fun kids’ activities in the month of May as possible.
With the ever-uncertain weather in mind, I’m including both indoor and outdoor activities for the whole family to enjoy. Consider these cheap and free Berks County events, Montgomery County activities, and more.
What to Do in Berks County PA / Montco in May 2019
Free Bubble Festival
The kids and adults alike will love the breathtaking displays of homemade suds by Grandpop Bubbles himself! Check the Grandpop Bubbles Calendar for upcoming events or view our tips and review. Local bubble fests take place in Collegeville, Lansdale, and Wyomissing.
Live Music @ Local Wineries
Enjoy a glass of local wine and live music at A’Dello Vineyard and Winery in Perkiomenville. Every weekend the winery kicks off outdoor live music with plenty of wine options and beer on tap. Bring your own food and bring the kids – the owners are awesome and the outdoor setting is fun for the kids to play and relax.
Mommy + Me Event
Hit up a local Mommy + Me event or create your own! A mommy + me painting activity or painting party can be a memorable experience with a treasured piece of art to take home. You can also hit up the Mommy + Me event at the nearby Promenade Shops at Saucon Valley with freebies, music, food, and more. Something I *really* want to do (but the timing is always off) is the Mommy & Me Braiding Lessons at Sweet & Sassy Collegeville.
Movie Date with Your Kids, Bestie, or Sweetheart
Hit up the $5 Movie Tuesday special at Movie Tavern for a great deal. Enjoy free complimentary-sized popcorn with your flick. (Thursdays for Students and Fridays for Seniors 60+ with $6 matinee admission.) Of course, you can do a movie date or movie night any time, but May’s a good time to do it before the summer kicks into high gear. If the weather cooperates, you might also want to check out Coco under the stars at Limerick Community Park. (Whatever you choose, don’t forget to sign up for your FREE birthday movie ticket to Movie Tavern and other great birthday freebies!)
Montgomery County PA Carnivals or Fairs
Festival season is upon us! This week alone we saw two carnivals being set up as we drove by – Gilbertsville Fire & Rescue Co. and Limerick Fire Department. You can also scope out carnivals you want to attend based on beer garden carnival status if you wish.
Run a 5K Race (…for Ice Cream)
May is a great time to go for a family run or a friends 5k. I highly recommend Pottstown’s Tuesday In the Park Ice Cream 5k Races & Kids Fun Run, organized by Chester County Running Store (in Pottstown). This series was amazing last year at the beautiful Pottstown Riverfront Park. We unfortunately only got to do one race because the weather rained out the other races. (Go figure.) My daughter, 6 at the time, ran the kids fun run, about a mile, for free ice cream! I jogged along with her with her little sister in the jogging stroller. VERY family friendly and totally a great experience — definitely one for the date book.
