We went for the first time in early December 2020 and timed it just right for the last show. We arrived at about 9:50 and only waited about three or four minutes for the light show to start. I absolutely loved the clever and current trendy theme (which I won’t spoil here!) so you don’t want to miss this one. We had our kids climb into the front seat with us to watch and it was a lovely moment and special memory. At the end, our five-year-old exclaimed, “this is my favorite light show ever!”

As the story goes, this guy puts Clark Griswold to shame! I couldn’t possibly cover this light show in as much glorious, beaming detail as the article in the Courier Times, so you might want to check that out. It gives me confidence that the sights will be worth the drive to see his breathtaking light show. The holiday light show mastermind behind everything even ordered special light flashing bracelets that are synchronized to the show as a giveaway for kids who visit more than once.

Fun Idea: Decorating the Car
Some of these light shows are closer than others, so the commute may seem long for just a drive-through holiday light display. That’s why I think we might decorate the windows of our car to make it more fun for our kids!
Using washable chalk markers or car window paint, I think we can make this a bigger memory than a simple drive-through. Our kids can help us decorate the windows of our SUV aka “Team Grocery Getter” with the washable window markers and some fun holiday stencils! I just ordered my stencils on Amazon and they have so many varieties and themes to consider – snowflakes, trees, reindeer, old trucks, and many more.
My kids are going to flip if we let them decorate the car! We’ve done a bunch of birthday parades but this would be exciting new territory for them, and new supplies to boot. I’ll have to run it by their daddy, since he’s so meticulous with the cars, but I think the memories alone will be worth it!
Holiday Light Show Caravan – Safe Fun with Friends
Even if you’re straight-up social distancing, you can still share experiences with a little creativity. 4
For even more fun, plan a “caravan” with your close family members or your kids’ BFFs. Simply go through the light show the same night, following each other if you like. You can even call to chat over Bluetooth before of after the experience.
Capture the memories any way you can! Everyone can decorate their cars and take photos and then catch up on FaceTime later in the weekend to share the moment in a uniquely 2020 way.
More Drive-Thru Holiday Light Show Attractions
At a nominal charge, these drive-through light shows are well worth your investment to make beautiful memories with those you love. Check the list for Drive through Christmas Lights 2020 and start marking down dates on your calendar!
Shady Brook Farm Holiday Light Show

Cost: Timed Tickets Coming Soon
Covid Safety: Stay in your car for the drive-through holiday light show! Or, take a ride in the open-air wagon ride, weather permitting.
Magical and very festive, the Shady Brook Farm Holiday Light Show features more than 3 million lights! Our family packed into my parents’ minivan and went through the drive-through light show at Shady Brook Farm a year or so ago. Dazzling acres of farmland, the light displays were breathtaking and we loved the entire experience. I expect this holiday attraction may sell out this year so be sure to get your timed tickets early!
Another attraction there is Candy Cane Lane, where your family can meander through musical, dancing lights. I don’t recall this part of the experience but it sounds lovely if you’re open to the more immersive experience than just the drive-through Christmas lights. Likewise, you can also find goodies in the holiday market or even take home a Christmas tree.

We turned around and finally found the entrance by plugging into GPS: 1700 Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Allentown, PA. The line was absolutely unbelievable! I highly recommend going much earlier or possibly trying on a weeknight, or both! We managed to check out a different light show closer to home and look forward to using our prepaid ticket to Lights in the Parkway another night!
